Northern Iloilo has been known for its fine white sand islands and beaches thanks to Isla de Gigantes in Carles, Iloilo which is getting a lot of attention lately. However, not to be outdone, nearby Concepcion is slowly but surely getting its share of tourists influx.
When I and some friends went there sometime in 2015, we stayed at Sandbar Island Beach Resort (also locally known as Bulubadiangan Island) which is just a 20 minute boat ride from the port in Concepcion proper. The resort is quite laid back, water is crystal clear and clean, and the long stretch of its picturesque sand bar makes the resort the perfect choice for an overnight stay. However, electricity is powered only by generator and operates on a limited time. There are also no nearby stores in the island so better bring a lot of foods, water and other necessities with you.The next day, we went to Agho Island (15-20 minutes away from Bulubadiangan), my most favorite island among them all. I literally fell in love with Agho. Not only its crystal clear water and fine white sand would draw you to this island but the mountains back dropping the island adds drama and on my part, melancholy to the overall picture and feel of the island. I was so emotional just sitting on its shore reflecting about life and walking around and appreciating the gorgeous view. Our final destination was just a small island near Agho, quite rocky and has a shorter sand bar.
